Social Narrative Adaptation using Crowdsourcing
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we present SNACS, a novel method for creating Social Narratives that can be Adapted using information from Crowdsourcing. Previous methods for automatic narrative generation require that the primarily author explicitly detail nearly all parts of the story, including details about the narrative. This is also the case for narratives within computer games, educational tools and Embodied Conversational Agents (ECA). While such narratives are well written, they clearly require significant time and cost overheads. SNACS is a hybrid narrative generation method that merges partially formed preexisting narratives with new input from crowdsourcing techniques. We compared the automatically generated narratives with those that were created solely by people, and with those that were generated semi-automatically by a stateof-the-art narrative planner. We empirically found that SNACS was effective as people found narratives generated by SNACS to be as realistic and consistent as those manually created by the people or the narrative planner. Yet, the automatically generated narratives were created with much lower time overheads and were significantly more diversified, making them more suitable for many applications. 1998 ACM Subject Classification I.2.1: Applications and Expert Systems

Crowdsourcing Narrative Intelligence
Narrative intelligence is an important part of human cognition, especially in sensemaking and communicating with people. Humans draw on a lifetime of relevant experiences to explain stories, to tell stories, and to help choose the most appropriate actions in real-life settings. Manual authoring the required knowledge presents a significant bottleneck in the creation of systems demonstrating nar...
متن کاملAutomatically Learning to Tell Stories about Social Situations from the Crowd
Narrative intelligence is the use of narrative to make sense of the world and to communicate with other people. The generation of stories involving social and cultural situations (eating at a restaurant, going on a date, etc.) requires an extensive amount of experiential knowledge. While this knowledge can be encoded in the form of scripts, schemas, or frames, the manual authoring of these know...
متن کاملPerform Three Data Mining Tasks with Crowdsourcing Process
For data mining studies, because of the complexity of doing feature selection process in tasks by hand, we need to send some of labeling to the workers with crowdsourcing activities. The process of outsourcing data mining tasks to users is often handled by software systems without enough knowledge of the age or geography of the users' residence. Uncertainty about the performance of virtual user...
متن کاملAmalgaCloud: Social Network Adaptation for Human and Computational Agent Team Formation
Many complex problems can be solved through an effective organization of human experts and software agents connected by a social network where each node contributes the unique skill set needed to enable a higher order problem solving capability of the group. Recent work in crowdsourcing applications based on enterprise social networks (e.g. PeopleCloud) has shown that the group problem solving ...
متن کاملAn Active Analysis and Crowd Sourced Approach to Social Training
Interactive narrative (IN) has increasingly been used for social skill training. However, extensive content creation is needed to provide learners with flexibility to replay scenarios with sufficient variety to achieve proficiency. Such flexibility requires considerable content creation appropriate for social skills training. The goal of our work is to address these issues through developing a ...
